I took yesterday morning off to relax a bit, do laundry, and work on the massive Tiny Tim posting from the day before. I came in with Tristan, and Danielle—who is here visiting for the weekend. We stopped at El Natural, a new-ish whole foods store where I found (and then had to buy) tons of great big cookies.
When I arrived at the highbay, Jamil had a team trying to figure out how to mount the upper solar panel holder, now that it’s populated. They spent a fair amount of time on it, and have a plan how to do it on the ice.
- COOKIES! (And vegan smoothie)
- Team Jamil lifts the panels with the crane
- Guiding and planning. This is a non-trivial operation
- Jamil and Nick await the panel’s arrival
- They try to wrestle the pins in
- The wiring on the back of the panels: sets of three in series, along each row
- Attached panel (except support struts, which are also tricky)
- The explosion-preventing safety valve is venting on the nitrogen dewar, Tristan doesn’t know why
- Barth doesn’t know why either
- Nick knows. He opens the valves that should have been open
- Platey, the mount of the SBSC is attached to the pyramid
- Meanwhile, Jamil continues to ponder the support strut issue
- Nick, in his Solar Panel Atlas posture
- A blue foam crash pad is rigged up, and a strut taped to the chin for support
- Natalie has got the SBSC working again
- Laura gives BLAST a big soaking wet hug. Awww
- She was just out running in the pouring rain
- Views of stuff from the tower: Volleyball court
- The pad
- The CSBF highbay, OCC
- Tractors and chemicals
- Tristan and a radio dish
- Lorenzo tries to pass up to us
- Some sort of mystery place behind the highbay. This bears further investigation
