Yesterday was the first day for Tristan and Giles at the highbay, bringing our total number to nine. We’re really starting to fill out the place. It’s also getting hard to keep track of everyone, especially when I’m buried in code all day. So, I no longer know exactly what everyone’s up to, and don’t really get pictures of everyone all the time. If you’re looking for somebody and they’re missing, hopefully you forgive will me. Or if you ask me, I’ll remember for at least a few days to try to get more pictures of your special someone.
- Juan has the fastest scissors in the south. The Deep South.
- Tristan opens his calibration chopper
- Then gives me a Zoolander face as he unpacks it
- Nick is in thermometer land
- Elio and Mark discuss some tests
- Nick has a prolonged stay in thermometer land
- Juan works on putting the finishing touches to the top two layers of mylar
- Shiny
- Less shiny (but a lot more opaque) inside
- Nicks Like Crane (sung to the tune of “Ducks Like Rain”)
- You can’t tell in a still picture, but the telescope is scanning slowly
- Laura gives the scan data one thumb up, and a half-hearted grin
- Tristan solders a stepper motor for his chopper
- Giles takes a close look at the HWPR motor. That’s what he’s here for
- Mark answers email while demonstrating the correct after-lunch horizontality
- Anything used lifting MUST be certified
- This chair is broken. That makes it sad. That makes me sad
- NSF has blocked access to this site (our first encounter with web censorship)
- Mark is frapping, and seems pretty happy about it
Hi Steve, I so enjoy your postings and the comments regarding each picture. It makes your work a bit more understandable. I am Luke’s Mom. I have given this site out to many friends and family to keep track of the project’s activity. Thank you so much for these posts.
