Juan has taken on fixing and programming the inner frame balance pump. Presumably he took these pictures.
- Pump and controller box mounted on the inner frame
- All Penn boxes use circular connectors. None of ours do. These have since been removed (for reasons better than Barth’s general dislike)
- The guts of the controller box
- Sad and droopy connectors, probably unaware of their pending replacement
- Shrink wrap makes solder joints look good. Even when they’re really bad underneath (like, say, this case)
What’s wrong with circular mil connectors?
You probably won’t notice this really late response, but:
Nothing in particular is wrong with the circular mil connectors. Barth dislikes the bayonet style because he found one once to be flaky. The screw type ones are a bit of a pain. And all of them require lots of room for fingers around them, so they can’t be packed very tightly.
